InBetween

Comparisons

Honest comparisons, including when something else is a better fit.

Short answerInBetween is the lightest tool: forwarding to coworkers with your own number. For large teams, a Business API platform fits better. For a small office where everyone may see everything, free linked devices are enough.

Four ways to share one business WhatsApp number

Most comparisons come down to one question: who sees the customer messages, and who answers them? This table puts the four common setups side by side.

OptionWho sees customer messagesKeeps your existing numberSeveral people answer at onceCost model
WhatsApp Business app on one phoneWhoever holds that phoneYesNoFree
Linked devices (WhatsApp Web, up to 4)Every linked device sees all chats and customer numbersYesYes, but nobody is assignedFree
InBetweenCoworkers get only customer messages, numbers hidden by defaultYes, linked by QR or pairing codeOne coworker per conversation; up to 20 on Pro+Free Basic, Pro €87 or Pro+ €142 per month
Business API platform with team inboxAgents in a shared inbox, with rolesThe number runs on the Business API; ask the provider about moving itYesPlatform fee plus Meta fees per conversation

How to choose in three questions

  1. Do several people need to answer customers at the same time? Then you need a shared inbox, usually on a Business API platform such as Trengo, Superchat or respond.io. InBetween sends each conversation to one coworker at a time.
  2. Is it fine if everyone sees every chat and every customer number? Then free linked devices are often enough. Link WhatsApp Web on the office computer and you are done.
  3. Is the answer with someone who is not holding the business phone, like a technician, the workshop or whoever is on duty, and should customers keep the number they know? That is the case InBetween is built for: each customer message goes to that person automatically and the reply goes back from your business number.

What these comparisons leave out

We do not list other providers' prices as fixed numbers, because they change and often depend on the number of users and on Meta conversation fees. Check the current price on the provider's own website. We compare on what a tool does for a small business with one number. Two things about InBetween to know up front: it is not an official Meta integration but uses the linked-device technology of WhatsApp Web, and the app dashboard is currently only in Dutch. The first 30 days of Pro+ are free without a card, so you can test it with real customer messages before you decide.

Frequently asked questions

Which WhatsApp tool is best for a small business?

It depends on who answers. If one person answers from one phone, the free WhatsApp Business app is enough. If others do the work and should get the customer messages without seeing all chats, InBetween fits. If several agents answer at the same time, choose a shared inbox on a Business API platform.

Is there a free alternative to a WhatsApp team inbox?

Linked devices are free: up to 4 devices can use the same account, but each one sees all chats and customer numbers and nobody is assigned. InBetween has a free Basic plan with 25 customer messages per month, which forwards to one coworker rather than a team.

Is InBetween an official WhatsApp or Meta integration?

No. InBetween uses the same linked-device technology as WhatsApp Web. That is why it works with your existing number and without the WhatsApp Business API. If you need an official Meta integration, a Business API platform is the better fit.
