How to add the button to your website
Copy the code above and paste it into the HTML of your site, ideally just before </body>. On WordPress you can use a plugin that adds code to the footer, or the theme setting for custom scripts. On Shopify, Wix, Squarespace and Webflow there is a field for custom code in the site settings. The button appears on every page that loads the script, in the corner you picked, and it stays on top of your content.
What the code does, and what it does not do
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Cookies or tracking? | None. The script stores nothing and sends no data anywhere |
| Network requests? | Only loading the script itself. Clicks go straight to wa.me |
| Size | Under 5 KB, no libraries, loads with async so it never slows your page |
| Clashes with your CSS? | No. The button lives in a Shadow DOM, so your styles and ours stay apart |
| Accessible? | Yes. It has an aria-label, a visible focus ring, and respects reduced motion |
Options you can change in the code
Every setting is a data attribute on the script tag, so you can change it later without coming back here. data-number is your number in international format, digits only. data-text is the message that is ready to send. data-label is the button text. data-position is right or left. data-color is any hex colour; the text turns dark automatically on light colours. data-credit="off" hides the small "via InBetween" link. We would appreciate it if you keep it, but the button works exactly the same without it.
Tips for more and better chats
- Use a clear label. "Ask us on WhatsApp" or "Request a quote" works better than just "WhatsApp".
- Pre-fill a useful message. "Hi, I would like a quote for..." tells you at once what the chat is about.
- Pick a contrasting colour. The button should stand out from your site without hiding content.
- Answer fast. Visitors who use a chat button expect a reply within the hour. Prepared reply templates help a lot.

More chats, one phone. Who answers?
A chat button brings in more WhatsApp messages, and they all arrive on one phone. With InBetween every customer message is forwarded automatically to the colleague who does the work. They reply from their own WhatsApp, and the customer gets the answer from your business number. Your button keeps working, because the number does not change.
Forward customer messages automatically. Replies go back from your number.

Is the WhatsApp chat button free?
Yes. Free, without an account and without a time limit. The button keeps working with or without an InBetween subscription.
Does it work with WhatsApp Business?
Yes. The button opens a wa.me link, which works for both WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business numbers.
Does the button use cookies or track visitors?
No. It sets no cookies, stores nothing and sends no data. The only request is loading the script file itself.
Can I remove the "via InBetween" link?
Yes. Add data-credit="off" to the script tag, or untick the option above before copying the code.
Do I need a new WhatsApp number?
No. You connect your existing WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business number, the same way you would connect WhatsApp Web. Customers keep messaging the number they already know.
